Founded in 2001 by Jeff Marks, Dirt Worx Schmere began with a simple mission: to create practical, reliable solutions for the everyday challenges faced by Hollywood's costume professionals. Jeff's connection to the entertainment industry began at an early age as a child actor. With years of firsthand experience both on and behind the scenes, he understood the demanding work of costume and wardrobe departments, where a single production could require anything from a handful to hundreds of costumes. That understanding inspired him to develop Schmere aging and distressing products, the original STICK IT! Fashion Tape, and innovative wardrobe accessories, including Rack Dividers. What began as a small Hollywood business grew into a trusted name among costume designers, production studios, theaters, and wardrobe professionals around the world. Continuing Jeff's Legacy In 2025, Dirt Worx Schmere entered a new chapter under woman-owned leadership, but this transition was built on years of working together. Our current owner began working with Jeff in 2016, developing a firsthand understanding of the business, its products, and the relationships that have made Dirt Worx Schmere what it is today. Taking ownership was not simply the purchase of a company, but an opportunity to preserve and continue a legacy built over decades. Although Jeff has retired, he remains an important part of our story and a trusted source of knowledge and guidance as we move forward. We continue to honor his original vision while introducing new ideas, improving our products, and expanding our collection to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
